Resonanzraum Fagus – Nils Nordmann

Die CD “Resonanzraum Fagus: 10 Maschinenkompositionen” kann man nun hier käuflich erwerben.

Die Arbeit mit Werkzeug und Maschine im Fagus-Werk ist von einer Geräuschhaftigkeit, auf die es sich zu hören lohnt. In zehn Kompositionsstudien wird der Versuch unternommen, die Werkhalle als Resonanzraum musikalisch zu interpretieren. Dem »objektiven« Abbild der industriellen Klanglandschaft wird ein künstlerischer Reflex auf deren Geräusch haftigkeit gegenübergestellt. Als Material für die kompositorische Arbeit dienen ausschließlich Arbeits- und Maschinengeräusche des Fagus-Werks, die das Geräuscharchiv der Universität Hildesheim beherbergt. Die Arbeitsergebnisse zeigen ein breites Spektrum an kompositorischen Arbeitsweisen. Während in einigen Stücken die Werkhalle als Resonanzraum akustisch erfahrbar bleibt, findet in anderen eine weitgehende klangliche Transformation des Ausgangsmaterials statt, so dass eigene Klang- bzw. Gegenwelten entstehen. Die CD ist entstanden im Rahmen der Lehr- und Forschungsschwerpunkte »Soundscapes« und »Szenische Musik« am Institut für Musik und Musikwissenschaft der Universität Hildesheim.

Working with tools and machines in the Fagus factory produces such an abundance of noises that it is worthwhile to hesitate and listen. Ten composition studies undertake the task of interpreting the resonating factory hall in a musical way. In these compositions, the »objective« acoustical image of the industrial soundscape is confronted with an artistic response to the noisiness. The only materials used for these compositions are the sounds made by workers and machines in the Fagus factory that are stored in the sound archives of the University of Hildesheim. Results show a broad spectrum of compositional approaches. While in some of the compositions the factory hall remains tangible acoustically, in others the original sounds undergo an extensive transformation, resulting in independent worlds of sound and contrasting acoustic constructs. This CD originated from the teaching and research focus on »Soundscapes« and »Scenic Music« at the Institute for Music and Musicology of the University of Hildesheim.
